Renovating the Schoolhouse

We are so excited about the renovation project now happening at Mountain Brook!
To date, there is a new roof on the school as well as significant structural improvements to the inside.  The interior has been completely stripped out and we are working on installing new windows.
Check out the Vision Page for simulated pictures of the renovated interior along with plans of events we hope to host once the building is complete

Volunteers Bill Nickel, Jim Till and Heidi Wunderlich installed the last four of the north side windows!  And that's all!  Now there is sunlight coming in from both sides just as beautiful as ever. Thank you SO much you guys for all the hard work you put in.  We are so grateful!  And thank you Foundation Members for your faithful donations that have made this possible.  Stop in and see the inside of the building at the Summer Pie Social August 27, 2011.

Volunteers Bill Nickel, Kim Wunderlich and Heidi Wunderlich finished framing in the last of a bank of four windows.  They are now ready for windows to be set in.  Afterward, we put two windows in the holes just to see how they looked and for pictures.  Looking good!  New furniture was also hefted into the library building and work was done on the oak shelving to be added to the Mountain Brook Library.  Thank you to all who came and helped.  You make so much possible!  See you next Wednesday!

June 22nd, 2011

Volunteers Bill Nickel, Jim Till, and Kim Wunderlich framed in two more window spaces.  Afterward, we wanted to get a glimpse of what the new windows will look like and set one in one of the holes for a picture.  It's going to look wonderful!  Volunteers Heidi and Amanda Wunderlich sorted through oak shelving donated by Flathead County Library to later be assembled and added to the fiction shelving of the Mountain Brook Library.  Thank you to all who came in and helped.  See you next Wednesday!

June 15th, 2011

Bill Nickel did the first steps for framing in new headers for windows while volunteers Heidi and Amanda cleared the north classroom to prepare for dropping the sagging false ceiling.  The foundation would appreciate the help of more volunteers on the next Wednesday work night for this large step.

June 8th, 2011

Volunteers cut the lawn and did some trimming around the property with our new lawnmower and weed eater.

June 1st, 2011

Work parties are beginning again!  Volunteers Bill Nickel and Heidi Wunderlich removed all seven windows along the south wall of the schoolhouse.  The windows will be stored, some of them for art decoration when the building is complete and others to be sold as fundraisers.  If you would like to inquire about purchasing, contact Amanda.
